more vignettes from home

my knitting is balled up on the stool
the shadows are long
when you’re in the north this time of year, so are the days.

saw six baby quail today
and a baby bunny!
napped in the hammock and pondered the space-time continuum
in such leisure

It seems to snow this time of year,
snow from the cotton tree.
I think I saw one once, but I might have just imagined it.
Imagine me, imagine a tree
that spreads its seeds on snowflake cottonballs
floating in wind and across the windshield
they float inexorably everywhere
just try to capture them in your hand
it accumulates until fluffy seed drifts coat
sidewalks, cob webs and hollows between tree roots
but how to find this cotton tree?
